The Macau Special Administrative Region of the
People's Republic of China (中華人民共和國澳門特別行政區), commonly known as Macau or Macao
(澳門, 馬交) is a small territory on the southern coast of the People's Republic of
China. Administered by Portugal until 1999, it was the oldest European colony in
China, dating back to the 16th century.
中國澳門（收聽：普通話讀音、粵語發音、葡萄牙語發音），全稱為中華人民共和國澳門特別行政區，是中華人民共和國所轄的一個特別行政區，位處珠江口以西，由澳門半島、氹仔、路環以及路氹城四個部份所組成。其中澳門半島北面與中國大陸連接，而氹仔和路環本是兩個分離的離島，但後期填海工程把兩離島完全連接，兩離島之間填海得出的地段稱為路氹城。東面與香港相距30公里。
